Unkonwn messsages appears in discusssion

In OJS 3.3.0.13 unknown messages appears. Users didn’t write them.

Hi there,

I see the same issue. In our case unrelated authors appear to open a discussion (even if not involved in the submission, so they dont have access). This seems to coincide with them submitting a manuscript or revision and starting a discussion in their own submission.

However, it appears that the corresponding author in the other submission can actually see the empty discussion and wonders about the role of the person starting it.

I hope that the developers are aware of this bug and fix it in an update.

Steps I took leading up to the issue
Authors have noted empty messages in their review discussion from unrelated persons. I checked the timing of these and they typically coincide with these unrelated persons being active in their own submissions.

What application are you using?

This sounds a little bit like this issue:

We haven’t been able to pin down the conditions that cause this to happen, so if you’re able to replicate the issue, that would be very helpful.

(The discussions toolkit is being rewritten for 3.6, so if nothing else, the problem is likely to go away with that upgrade.)

thanks for looking into it and checking the github conversation it seems that we have a similar issue. We have updated OJS and not seen it in a while. I will monitor the issue and look forward to upgrading the system to the latest version where this is hopefully fixed.
