Theming when upgrading

I am in the process of upgrading a site from 3.1.2-1 to 3.2.1-1. The old 3.1.2-1 had some custom theming which we did to it. Would this be handled by simply copying the styles directory to the 3.2.1-1 directory. I tried to do this, and there are problems with the new version.

Ok - I’ve realized that the theme which is being used is from the plugins/theme directory. I’m therefore guessing that the styles directory under the main directory is for theming the admin pages (? please confirm). Copying over the styles folder from the plugin themes, however, is still not working. Is there documentation somewhere regarding site upgrades when theme has been customized?

Hi @wklyons,

How did you customize the theming in the old version? There are a lot of ways to do this – uploading a CSS file, or creating a child theme, or directly modifying the CSS cache (not recommended), or modifying the .less files…

Hi Alex
Thanks for getting back to me. I didn’t actually do the theming, we had an outside contractor handle it. The current themes in the plugins are “default” (which is active) and “defaultManuscript” (which is present, but not checked). However, it looks like the theming work that was done was applied to the defaultManuscript styles directory. Please put this ticket on hold - I need to check with the themer to see what he did.
Thanks - WKLyons
