Submission of special character like μ and β in abstract whiles submitting new manuscript or via quick submit plugin

We are facing issue while submitting abstract with special characters or symbols we have checked by putting symbol in abstract submission doesnt work but without symbol everything is ok can anyone let us know the process to submit symbol in abstract section

Hi @environcj

Are your database charset and your tables collation set to work with utf8 charset and collation ? What is the error message from OJS when you use these special symbols in the abstract section?

Dear Israel

Thanks for your response, actually we don’t get any error message but if the author try to submit the abstract in abstract section with symbol the cursor just roll after clicking on save button and authors are not able to submit as there is no response and cursor moves on for hours.

We are facing same problem with the abstract section and all the database tables are utf8. users can’t save the abstract and it keeps loading forever. But it works and they can save the abstract when they remove the word “From” from the abstract text. I don’t know why this happened either. We are using the latest version of OJS and PHP version is 8.0

Have you checked the charset and collation of your DB and Tables?

Thanks issue is resolved after setting tables collation to work with utf8 charset
