[Solved] OJS 3.3.x upgrade errors: A submission file was expected but not found

Description of issue or problem I’m having:

Upgrading to OJS 3.3.0-7 from OJS 3.2.1.4 generates a lot of errors (or warnings):

A submission file was expected but not found at journals/8/articles/35/submission/35-85-121-1-2-20190125.doc.
...
A submission file was expected but not found at journals/19/articles/310/submission/310-219-489-1-2-20200226.pdf.
...
A submission file was expected but not found at journals/20/articles/561/submission/561-238-1496-1-2-20200227.pdf.
...
A submission file was expected but not found at journals/21/articles/774/submission/proof/774-251-2250-3-10-20200227.pdf.
...

Total error count:

4 journals/8/
336 journals/19/
957 journals/20/
358 journals/21/

If I understand correctly the number at journals/NUMBER is a journal id. This would explain the errors as there are no journals with id 8, 19, 20 or 21:

mysql> select journal_id from journals order by journal_id;

| journal_id |

Can the above errors be safely ignored or fixed somehow?

Application Version - e.g., OJS 3.1.2: OJS 3.3.0-7

Hi there,

Yes, you can ignore those. It sounds like in the past there were journals with those numbers, which were deleted, and the entries in the submission_files table were not removed when that happened.

Cheers,
Jason
