Showing peer review reports in 3.4

If authors want to access their peer review reports, they have to navigate through the notifications in their dashboard to find the email that contains the peer review reports. However, there is a separate box for any uploaded files from reviewers.

I suggest having another box that contains the report separately from the email to make it easier for authors to navigate to and so the decision email email doesn’t get buried among other notifications.

A few of our journal editors have asked for this, after complaints from authors.

Hi @rebeccauoe,

Curious if you’ve looked at how/if this works any better in OJS 3.5, which was released this past year: https://pkp.sfu.ca/software/ojs/demo/

Were this to change, it would be likely to build off 3.5 and not 3.4? Perhaps you could elaborate further on what you find lacking in 3.5 and what you would expect/hope to see?

Hi Roger,

Thanks for getting back in touch! We only finished upgrading to 3.4 by the time 3.5 was released, so we didn’t have the resource to immediately begin the upgrading process again (we have quite a large amount of journals and database).

We are creating a test environment to look further into 3.5. Is this something that is available in 3.5?

Best, Rebecca.

Hi @rebeccauoe,

Understandable. OJS 3.5 introduces a number of different changes to the editorial workflow. You can get a sense of this by looking at the documentation:
https://docs.pkp.sfu.ca/learning-ojs/

As well, by testing things out on the test drive that I linked to above.

What I was getting at is that the issue that you are experiencing may change with the updates in OJS 3.5, so I’d encourage you to have a look there and see whether things have changed enough that they will have satisfied the need for a change that you’re expressing. And, if not, perhaps express what you feel is missing?

Thanks, Roger! I’ll do some testing.
