Rich code in references

Still trying to inform references; I get a small issue:

If I put the code <article itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/ScholarlyArticle">

Result is
http://schema.org/ScholarlyArticle"> (actually without link)

and is obiously not working

Any idea how to do?

Schema.org support will be included in OJS 3.0? ps: and I would love some thoughts on pros and cons of having Schema.org at the expense of XHTML validation!
