When assigning a reviewer, it will show whether the user already has open review tasks
but on some occasions, the reviewer doesn’t actually have any review tasks in their Queue
The reason for this is because they were assigned to a task in the past that was never completed. The submission was then progressed without their review (i.e. published or declined) but the task is still outstanding against their name in the reviewer database and thus looks like they are busy with existing review tasks when they are not.
This submission is in the reviewer’s Archive but they didn’t complete the task.
Steps I took leading up to the issue
- Go to assign a reviewer and look at the ‘active’ number
- Compare that against the number of active tasks in the reviewer’s queue
