Review submission triggers duplicate emails


We’re running v3.1.1.2, php v7.2.31. We are having problems with the system sending out more than one email during a particular action.

For instance, a peer reviewer will submit a review and the system will accept it, but then send out a New Issue notification. I’m not sure if the notification is going out globally, or to just the reviewer. We have modified/created some templates, so I’m thinking the issue is there, but I’m not sure where to start.

Has anyone else had this behavior?

The first thing you can check is the editorial history of the reviewed submission. Here you should see the email that has been sent. Could be that the correct template is used, just the template content is wrong. If so, you can check the email templates regarding the reviews.
