Restriction on subscription dates

Using the test drive journal, I can set up subscriptions for recent years (e.g. 2019), but if I try to set up a subscription for, say, 1992 (or I get a message ‘Please select a valid subscription start date. Please select a valid subscription end date.’ This appears to be the case even if I have a published issue dated 1992 and make its publication date 1992.
We want to host a journal that has a lot of back volumes, and some subscribers who stopped subscribing quite a long time back. How could we enter their subs to restrict access up to, say, 2000 volume?
Is there any reason the subscription dates are restricted to recent years and is there any way round it?

Hi @Andrew_Johnson,

Presumably you’re using a more recent version of OJS (could you please indicate which one?). What happens when you set the Access status to subscription for individual issues (which you may have to do to setup) - this should be under your Back Issues, and then edit an individual one and set “Access” to subscriptions (you’ll first have to enabled subscription access under Distribution → Access)

Hi Roger, Thanks a lot for replying.

Before messing around with our live journal set-ups, which use OJS 3.2, I wanted to test whether we could load subscriptions covering past years. To try to understand the subscriptions module and see if this is feasible, I was using your test-drive journal:
https://demo.publicknowledgeproject.org/ojs3/testdrive/index.php

I enabled subscription access for the journal under Distribution, but I can’t see how to apply this on an issue basis. If I try to set up a 12 month sub for 2015-1-1 to 2016-1-1 I can save the sub details OK, even though there is no journal issue published between these dates. The problem is, if I use subscription dates 1992-1-1 to 1993-1-1 and try to save the sub details I get an error message ‘Please select a valid subscription start date. Please select a valid subscription end date.’ The seems to be the case even if I have made an issue for 1992 and set its publication date to that year.

Best wishes,
Andrew

Hi @Andrew_Johnson,

Thanks for clarifying. I’m not sure what is going on here, but I’m going to see if one of our team members can assist when they’re available.
