Removing standard menu items from OCS navbar

I’m trying to create a simplified OCS navbar by removing some items. So far, I’ve been commenting out lines from navbar.tpl but that hasn’t changed anything on screen.
I haven’t found anything about this in the forums with a search on ‘menus’ and I’d welcome a pointer to what I’m doing wrong.

Hi @tlove,

How are you commenting lines?

Double-check that the file permissions in cache/t_compile are correct – if OJS can’t edit those files, then changes to your templates will appear ineffective.
