Problem with Dara-Export-Plugin

Hi there,

we have a problem with the da|ra Export/Registration Plug-in for one of our journals. So far we were able to export everything without trouble, but that has changed in the last two days. When we try to register our articles the browser only shows a white site and doesn’t stop to load. Has anyone this problem, too? It only happens with this journal.

Kind regards
Daniela

Hi @UBWolf,

You mean the DataCite Export/Registration plugin right? Which action triggers the error? Export all unregistered issues, articles and galleys?

It seems that the request is timing out or some PHP error. Do you have access to your PHP error log? Can you try to find anything related to DataCite plugin there?

Let me know the details so we can better investigate this.

Regards,
Bruno

Hi Bruno,

yes, it happens when we try to export all unregistered issues, articles and galleys. I also see in Mozilla that the system tries to transfer data from code.etracker.com. It seems there is a connection problem.

Kind regards
Daniela

Daniela, do you have access to your server PHP error logs?

Regards,
Bruno

Hi Bruno,

yes, I have access. I get this line:
File does not exist: /web/htdocs-journals/dara, referer: http://xxx.de/index.php/xxx/manager/importexport/plugin/DaraExportPlugin

It’s strange. We have already registered articles for this journal in the past and we don’t have any trouble with any other journals.

Kind regards
Daniela

Hi there,

it seems we found the solution for the problem: the length of the title. It has 281 characters, but the plugin only allows 255 characters.

Kind regards
Daniela

Thanks Daniela, I think that’s a bug. I created an issue for it: DataCite plugin silently fails to handle titles with more than 255 characters · Issue #698 · pkp/pkp-lib · GitHub

Cheers,
Bruno

Hi Daniela,

The Dara-Export-Plugin is from GESIS (GESIS developed it and GESIS maintaince it), thus it would be best to contact GESIS for any kind of problems with that plug-in.
The plug-in is based on DataCite-Export-Plugin, but it is not the same, so if you (or GESIS) encounter the problem that applys to the DataCite-Export-Plugin as well, it would be great to report it here…

Best wishes!
Bozana

Hi Bozana,

I’v already spoken to our contact of GESIS. She provided the information about the length.

Kind regards
Daniela

Thanks @bozana,

I will delete the issue then.

Cheers,
Bruno

Hi Daniela,

What was the problem i.e. the solution?

Best!
