I noticed that in OJS 3.5 with ORCID functionality disabled, I am not able to insert contributor ORCID manually in submission metadata.
Upon enabling ORCID globally (public ORCID API), I can only request ORCID authentication by sending a request to the author.
Is it intended?
Does it mean that thousands of articles already published will be showing “unauthenticated” by auhtor’s ORCID on the article landing page (regardless of whether the ORCID is enabled or not)?
Yes, this is intended so – we only support authenticated ORCIDs from now on.
Yes also for the display. Do you see any problem there? – I would think that it is good to have ORCIDs display if they exist.
And @ewhanson would know if there is or will be a possibility to bulk ask authors to authenticate – I have forgotten
Does it mean that if an author connects/authenticates their profile with ORCID, it will automatically show up along with the author’s name on landing page of all the articles of this contributor?
Hey @bozana, this is unfortunately not currently possible. I suppose if it were a one-off need, a CLI script could probably be written to do it, but there’s nothing that currently supports it.
Hi @piotreba
No, unfortunately not – user profile data is saved separately from authors data. So for author would need to connect their profile with ORCID for each article.
Best,
Bozana
This ORCID connection, can do only with the ORCID verification button? Our button don’t send any message… Is there any other option to do this ORCID verification? Thanks!
