I have been tasked to install the software for an upcoming conference. However, looking at the download page I see that the last update happened in May 2014. As a webmaster, I can’t trust software that hasn’t been updated for 3 years. I currently look at it as a security incident waiting to happen.
Could somebody try to convince me otherwise?
That is indeed the latest release. See this blog entry for our future plans for OCS. Meanwhile, OCS 2.x shares a large amount of code with OJS 2.x, and we do actively maintain it for security fixes etc.; there just haven’t been any since the last release. It should be safe to use but will feel a little outdated.
