Hi, I am currently testing OJS3 and I have noticed that it does not seem possible to browse articles by section. So, if a section editor, who is responsible for more than one section, wants to only see the articles submitted to one of these sections, it does not seem to be possible any more. Or am I missing something?
Thank you
Best regards
Valeria
Hi @valeria,
Do you mean that in the editorial back end, editors/section editors need to be able to filter the submission lists (for unpublished, in-progress content) by section?

Yes Alec, that is what I meant. In OJS2 we have used sections of the journal to handle “special issues” so that section editors could be assigned to them as if they were guest editors and we would instruct authors of those special issues to submit to these specific sections. Some of these “special issues” are published as series and therefore the same section editor can follow more at a time. He has therefore to be able to browse the submitted manuscript by section in the backend.
Any advice on how something like this could be handles in OJS3?
Thank you
Best regards
Valeria
Hi Alec, coming back to this, would making browsing also by section possible do the trick?
thank you
Valeria
Hi @valeria,
Try the patches at Add section to the submission filter form in the editorial back-end · Issue #2022 · pkp/pkp-lib · GitHub (one for OJS and one for the lib/pkp submodule).

Thanks a lot @asmecher! I saw that you’ve added the OJS 3.0.2 milestone to the patches. Can we safely assume that they will be included in the OJS 3.0.2 release scheduled for February 2017 (according to the Upcoming PKP Software Development Plans)? Cheers
Hi @kasioumis,
Yes, that should be included in OJS 3.0.2. The scheduling is currently a rough estimate but not especially high risk.
