Just wandered what happened to the thesis abstracts in OJS 3? We have been collecting/compiling them for several years. Are we going to loose them once we move to OJS 3?
Hi Alec,
I’m not really sure, but it was predefined and appears in the menu items. Sending a screenshot of our page.
Best regards,
Zoran
Hi @ZoranZdr,
Yes, that’s the thesis plugin. We haven’t adapted all OJS 2.x plugins to work with OJS 3.x, and there are some plugins that we may not adapt. (Tagging @mfelczak in case he has more knowledge of the usage of this plugin.) For the moment, if this plugin is a requirement, I’d suggest staying with OJS 2.x.

Hi Alec,
Thank you very much for your answer. I do hope you the plugin will be made available in version 3.x.
All the best,
Zoran
Hi
Is there any separate plugin for thesis abstract? If yes, then how can I get it to install?

Mir Misbahuddin
Hi @Mir_Misbahuddin,
There’s a thesis abstracts plugin built into OJS 2.x, but that plugin hasn’t yet been rewritten for OJS 3.x.

Hi Alec,
“Thesis abstract” file is lost from the Generic Plugins. How can I recover
it? Just to replace the “Thesis abstract Plugin”, “Generic Plugins” or to
reinstall the whole OJS software?

Misbahuddin
Hi @Mir_Misbahuddin,
What version of OJS are you using?

Hi Alec,
We are using OJS 2x instead of OJS 3. I am not a computer engineer. I am
working in an University as professor and a lot of abstracts need to make
available in our journal. That is why, I am thinking to incorporate “Thesis
abstract” in our Journal for the benefit of students. When I read the
manual of Generic plugin available in the website, I have found that there
is a plugin of thesis abstract. But while I have go through the Generic
plugin, it is not available in our installed OJS softwate.

Misbahuddin
Hi @Mir_Misbahuddin,
That plugin should be included with any recent installation of OJS 2.x, so if you don’t see it, perhaps you deleted it. If so, you should be able to find it in the download package (ensure that you get the same version as your installation is running) in plugins/generic/thesis
.

Hi Alec,
Thank you very much for your guidance. I shall install it. When I reinstall
it, then we shall upload a large number of university students’ thesis. But
I am worried that it will hamper the up-gradation of the OJS software as
because thesis abstract plugin will be absent in the up-graded version.

Misbahuddin
Hi @Mir_Misbahuddin,
Agreed, that is a valid concern. Unfortunately we don’t yet have concrete plans whether (or not) to rewrite that plugin for OJS 3.x.

Like Thesis Abstract, popular Article must be built in the OJS 3x.
Dear Dr. Alec Smecher,
Is it possible to add “Cited by” in each article of OJS 2.4.6 or in the HTML file.
Best wishes,
Prof. Mir Misbahuddin
Hi @Mir_Misbahuddin,
This thread is about the Thesis Abstracts plugin. I don’t think your question is related, so please post it as a new topic.
