OJS 3.5.0.3 – Invitation Email Ignores Custom Message and Sends Default Template

Hello,

We are experiencing an issue in OJS 3.5.0.3 related to the role assignment invitation email.

When inviting a user to take on a role (for example, Reviewer, Editor, etc.), the system allows us to edit the email content before sending. However, regardless of what is written in the email editor — whether a fully customized message or a modified version of the template — the system ignores the edited content and sends the default standard invitation email instead.

In other words, the customized text entered at the time of sending is not being used.

Additionally, many journals include their own editorial email address in CC to confirm that the invitation was actually sent. Since the customized email content is not being delivered, editorial teams assume that the invitation was not sent at all, which is creating confusion and unnecessary resending of invitations.

Has anyone experienced this behavior in OJS 3.5.0.3?
Is this a known bug or configuration issue?

Thank you.

Hi @Tarcisio_Pereira,

I believe you’re encountering this issue:

It’s already known and will be fixed in the next OJS/OMP/OPS 3.5.0-x release.
