OJS 3.5.0.0 not LTS

The blurb for the What’s new in OJS 3.5? MARCH 2025 webinar in Eventbrite has been updated with:

(Update: 3.5.0.0 will not be an LTS version.)

Does this mean specifically 3.5.0.0, or the whole of the 3.5 series?

Hi @Jim_Nicholls,

Version 3.5.0-0 will be the very first build of the 3.5.0 line of releases. Generally speaking it takes a few builds for us to shake out bugs related to real-world deployment, resulting in 3.5.0-1, 3.5.0-2, et cetera.

Once we’re satisfied that folks needing the stability and predictability of an LTS release will get it from 3.5.0, we’ll add the LTS stamp to a build. I expect it’ll take a few months after the initial release of 3.5.0-0 for us to do that.

From that point, all future 3.5.0 builds will be LTS builds.

Hi @asmecher When will PKP launch the OJS 3.5.0 production version? Because it is already May, the milestone is still 84%.

Hi @denz_Ravenzle,

We have completed the RC1 and RC2 release candidates; the next release will be 3.5.0-0. It is very close – many of the issues currently filed in Github against 3.5.0 and 3.5.0 Internal are non-critical and will be deferred.

does that mean the release time is this month?

Hi @denz_Ravenzle,

I’m hoping so. Stay tuned for a release announcement.
