Describe the issue or problem
I’ve gotten a few questions from authors who could not manage to add co-authors. I’ve deduced that they were getting errors because they were leaving field blank that lacked the asterix that marks them as compulsory, but that were actually compulsory.
In this case, those two field were the email-address and the statement on conflicting interests.
Steps I took leading up to the issue
For example:
- Make a new submission
- Go to step 3 of the submission process
- Add a contributor
- There, these fields don’t have a red asterix:
email address
Competing Interests statement
Trying to complete the form without filling these in throws up an error (“This field is required.”)
Is there something I can do to fix this (a setting somewhere) or a place I can open this as an issue on GH?
What application are you using?
OJS 3.4.0.5.
Additional information
I’ve updated the text accompanying this step to point out what fields they might be overlooking (" Please note that when adding a co-author, it is compulsory to fill in both their mail address and a statement on competing interests. Not doing so will result in a warning about missing information."). Good feature!
