I am experiencing an issue regarding author affiliations on our journal site. Currently, the authors’ institutional affiliations are not showing up on the public article page.
Following standard troubleshooting steps for OJS, I went to Settings > Workflow > Submission > Metadata to check if the “Affiliation” metadata field was enabled. However, the checkbox/option for Affiliation is completely missing from that section. I can see other options like Keywords, References, or Supporting Agencies, but nothing related to Affiliation.
Authors are able to enter their affiliation inside their profile and during the initial submission steps, but when previewing or after publishing on the public page, affiliations are missing.
Thank you for your prompt response and for clarifying the reconfiguration of affiliation management in OJS 3.5.
Regarding your suggestions, I would like to provide an update on my troubleshooting progress:
Regarding data entry: I have verified that the affiliations are indeed correctly populated within the Contributor area for each author in the submission metadata.
Regarding the toggle option: In my specific instance, the “toggle” (expand/collapse) functionality you mentioned for the affiliation field is not present or functional as expected, which prevents the data from being rendered in the frontend.
Frontend rendering: Despite confirming that the affiliation data is saved in the database for the contributors, it continues to be absent from the public-facing article page.
Given that the configuration interface has been altered and the expected toggle mechanism is not appearing on my installation, could there be a compatibility issue with the current theme or a specific missing step in the migration process to 3.5.0.4?
Any guidance on how to further debug this, or if there are specific server-side logs/checks I should perform to identify why the affiliation object is failing to render, would be greatly appreciated.
