I am curious if anyone has any experience with the coverage metadata. One of our international journals have started adding data about the geographical scope of each article, but apparently the coverage metadata is not shown on the article landing page and is not searchable in OJS. They weren’t really pleased with that so have started adding the region to their keywords instead.
From what I understand this is expected behaviour, it’s normal that some metadata only goes into the metadata layer and is not exposed to the landing page (only keywords are exposed?). What I am wondering is if anyone has any input on or examples of how the dc:coverage field is being used, i.e. in some indexing database or other. I have never really given it too much thought and couldn’t find any examples of the tag actually being used, only documentation on how to properly tag content with it.
