I hope you’re all doing well, I’d like to ask a question to the community and Vitalyi about the compatibility of the JATSParserPlugin and OldGreggThemePlugin with the new 3.4 version.
We really appreciate the work done on these plugins, which are essential for our work with OJS (Open Journal System). Currently, we’re using OJS 3.3 and considering an upgrade to version 3.4. However, we’re not certain about the compatibility of these plugins with this version. Does anyone know if Vitalyi or other developers are planning to update these plugins to be compatible with OJS 3.4 in the near future ? Or is it worth that we invest some of our time to upgrade these plugins by ourselves ?
Furthermore, we’ve heard that OJS version 3.5 might directly integrate JATS technologies into the platform. If this is true, does anyone think it would be wiser to wait for version 3.5 rather than to proceed with an update now, especially considering that our current OJS server is stable and functioning without problems?
Thank you in advance for your time and informed opinions on this matter. We greatly appreciate your work and look forward to your responses.
We have recently upgraded our OJS platform to version 3.4: https://emerging-neurologist.org/. For those interested, here are the links to the updated versions of the OldGregg and JatsParser plugins we have used:
There might still be some issues as we haven’t tested all functionalities of the plugins. If you encounter any problems, please do not hesitate to report them by creating an issue on GitHub.
Since I just installed the new system to OJS version 3.4, I am having some issues regarding the JATSParser plugin: The conversion from XML to PDF did not work. In previous experience with OJS 3.3, we edited the jats xml using the texture plugin, but in OJS 3.4, the plugin (texture) isn’t compatible with the version. Any idea?
Thanks for this work! We plan to test your forks for three JATS-based journals in the next couple of weeks. This plugin is the only issue holding us back from updating to 3.4 and PHP 8.x.
