I’m using OJS 3.4 and have enabled the “How to Cite” plugin, which generally works well. However, I’ve noticed some inconsistencies in how author names are displayed across different citation styles.
Issue:
For the following citation styles, the author names do not appear in the generated citation:
ACS
ABNT
Vancouver (Additionally, the DOI URL is not detected)
AMA
However, the plugin works correctly for:
ACM
APA
Chicago
Harvard
MLA
Turabian
Has anyone encountered this issue before? Are there any known fixes, or should I check for specific metadata configurations in my OJS setup?
For the author names, I’m wondeirng if you’re able to try the following:
Go to Website Settings > Plugins > Installed Plugins > Citation Style Language
In the plugin settings, go to the Contributor section
Ensure “Author” and “Translator” roles are assigned to their respective dropdown options[4]
This configuration can determine how OJS maps metadata roles to citation output. Misconfigured roles may be a cause of missing authors in certain citation styles.
Are you able to test that out and see if that resolves that issue.
I’m not entirely sure about the DOI for Vancouver style.
For the Vancouver issue I sovled it using the follwoing code.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
Vancouver
