How can I change my OJS website design to look like Elsevier, Springer, or The Lancet journals?

Hello OJS Community,

I’m currently using OJS for my journal and I want to improve its appearance. I would like to change my journal’s website design to look more professional and modern — similar to big publishers such as Elsevier, Springer, or The Lancet websites.

I don’t want to change the OJS backend functions (like submission and review system), but I only want to update the front-end design — homepage layout, article pages, fonts, and colors — to look like those large journal platforms.

Could anyone please guide me how to do this?

Should I use a custom theme or modify templates?

Is there any ready-made modern theme available for this purpose?

Or can someone recommend a developer or plugin that can help achieve this look?

Thank you for your time and support.

Best regards,
Yasir Akbar

Hello @Pmhjournal,

We provided details on how to go about designing your journal in our guide here:
https://docs.pkp.sfu.ca/designing-your-journal/en/

If you have the technical expertise, there is also the option of modifying the theme:
