Few Changes I want to made in my ojs portal

Below are the points I would like to propose for incorporation into the OJS system:

  1. During manuscript submission, authors should be required to complete and submit a copyright form.

  2. Upon submission, each manuscript should be assigned a unique code for identification purposes.

  3. When a reviewer accepts a manuscript for review, a reviewer form (customized) should be automatically sent to the reviewer along with the manuscript.

  4. After completing a review process, an Editor Evaluation Form should be sent to the Editor-in-Chief (EIC) to facilitate the final decision on the manuscript, taking into account the reviewers' comments.

  5. After the copyediting stage, there should be a dedicated portal within OJS for proofreading through which proofs can be sent to the author for confirmation before final publication.

Hi @Sajjad_Haider,

Could you please indciate which specific version of OJS you’re working from currently (e.g. 3.3.0-18)?

Hey Roger,

My current OJS version is 3.4.0-5

Hi @Sajjad_Haider,

  1. OJS - already has a mechanism of the author agreeing to a copyright form as part of the submission process. Can you explain why this isn’t sufficient for your needs? Do you need an attached form to accompany a submission?

  2. Upon submission, each manuscript should be assigned a unique code for identification purposes. OJS already provides this - please see the number listed beside the article title, like so:

If you need to customize these IDs, beyond what exists presently, this would be problematic.

  1. OJS already does this. Please see here: https://docs.pkp.sfu.ca/learning-ojs/en/reviewing

4). Again, OJS already does this (although perhaps not to the degree that you wish). Please see here: https://docs.pkp.sfu.ca/learning-ojs/en/editorial-workflow#responding-to-reviews

  1. Please have a look at how copyediting works in OJS, from the author’s perspective:
    https://docs.pkp.sfu.ca/learning-ojs/en/authoring#respond-copyediting-proofreading

And, from the perspective of the editorial workflow:
https://docs.pkp.sfu.ca/learning-ojs/en/editorial-workflow#copyediting

I would advise having a detailed look at our Guide that I have referred to, Learning OJS: https://docs.pkp.sfu.ca/learning-ojs/en/editorial-workflow#responding-to-reviews

I would recommend trying to best understand OJS and its capabilities and workflow, and focus on understanding how it works, and doing your best to work within the system and its capabilities,
rather than trying to adjust it to your specific needs.

The best ways to do this are through our Learning OJS guide: https://docs.pkp.sfu.ca/learning-ojs/en/

And through our self-directed courses: https://pkpschool.sfu.ca/

Making changes to the workflow in the manner that you have suggested would require significant modification of the code, which requires detailed technical understanding and skill (or possibly paying somebody to undertake this work). However, trying to better understand how OJS can already meet your needs by working within its capabilities can likely save you time and wasted effort.
