We manage a journal and previously had no issues registering published articles with Crossref for DOIs. This was done manually by clicking the “Register” button for each article under the DOIs section.
Yesterday, we published a new article but allowed the system to register it automatically via the scheduler. That’s when we noticed a problem.
Previously, the DOI would resolve to:
https://jlmc.edu.np/...........
But now, the DOI points to:
https://mail.jlmc.edu.np/...........
I attempted to export the Crossref XML using the plugin to inspect its contents, but I couldn’t. An message appeared:
“DOI management has moved. Please see the DOI management and DOI settings pages.”
Here are our current DOI settings:
- DOIs: Allowed to be assigned
- Items with DOI: Articles
- Prefix: 10.22502
- Automatic DOI assignment: Triggered upon reaching the copyediting stage
- DOI format: Custom — Submissions:
%j.v%vi%i.%a, Article galley:%j.v%vi%i.%a.g%g

Additional information
We host our website on a shared cPanel account and do not use any subdomains. When we log in to our domain email, the URL resolves to something like:
https://jlmc.edu.np:xxxx/cp..........
After noticing the DOI resolution issue, I extracted the metadata directly from Crossref and found the following entries in the XML:
<doi_data>
<doi>10.22502/jlmc.v11i2.556</doi>
<resource>https://mail.jlmc.edu.np/index.php/JLMC/article/view/556</resource>
<collection property="crawler-based">
<item crawler="iParadigms">
<resource>https://mail.jlmc.edu.np/index.php/JLMC/article/download/556/378</resource>
</item>
</collection>
<collection property="text-mining">
<item>
<resource mime_type="application/pdf">https://mail.jlmc.edu.np/index.php/JLMC/article/download/556/378</resource>
</item>
<item>
<resource mime_type="text/xml">https://mail.jlmc.edu.np/index.php/JLMC/article/download/556/379</resource>
</item>
</collection>
</doi_data>
How do i proceed to investigate and resolve this issue?
Should i just edit the crossref xml data removing the ‘mail’ and re-register manually in crossref site.
How do i prevent this issue in future?
Best regards,
editor from JLMC![]()
