error message
Deposit was not successful! The DOAJ API returned an error: 'Client error: POST https://doaj.org/api/v2/articles?api_key=31e6cc196ec9481ebedc8e3b9e42233a resulted in a 403 Forbidden response: {“status”: “forbidden”, “error”: "It is not possible to create an article for this journal. Have you included in the upl (truncated…) '.

Steps I took leading up to the issue

  1. Journal registered in DOAJ - OK
  2. API key - OK
  3. DOAJ export plugin - OK
  4. I don´t want to choose automatic export/register of articles
  5. After selecting one article, register, and there is an error = Forbidden

What application are you using?

I have encountered the same issue and found the solution. The problem in our case was, that we added a print ISSN in the OJS settings. The print ISSN is part of the DOAJ export file. DOAJ rejects the export, because the print ISSN was not included in the journal record in DOAJ.

Either we didn’t entered the print ISSN for the journal in the first place when registering the journal in DOAJ or it was deleted by DOAJ because the print ISSN was not mentioned in the metadata of the journal in the ISSN portal at
https://portal.issn.org/

I was not able to update the record in DOAJ, so I deleted the print ISSN in the journal settings in OJS.

After deleting the print ISSN I was able to upload the articles to DOAJ
