When we want to look at a COUNTER report, we click the year under Counter Release 4.1. This results in a browser message that says, “Do you want to open or save counterxxxx.xml from journalname?” If we click save, we can save the XML file. If we click Open, a new browser window opens, but it displays a blank page and there is nothing in the URL field. I have a feeling there should be some formatted data in this window. If so, what could the problem be?

Your browser won’t know what to do with a COUNTER report in XML – it’s not intended to be opened in the browser. (Browsers can handle some kinds of XML files, hence its interest in trying.)
