Hi, so I activated the discipline description option to be filled in on submission, but I would like this field to be of the select type with predefined and mandatory values, is it possible that it is a conditional field too? Can anyone help me with this?
PS: At first I wanted to make a custom field but I couldn’t do it with the information I found on the internet and no plugin.
Hi @Lucas_Ernesto,
Can you please indicate which version of OJS you’re using (e.g. 3.3.0-13)?

yes it is that version of ojs
Hi @Lucas_Ernesto,
So far as I can tell it’s not possible to create a controlled vocabulary for the disciplines field. There is, however, the ability to allow it to be added, but just not have the author add it - this could ensure more consistency.

So is it possible to create a custom select field??

thanks, I’ll take a look
Well, it’s better to explain what I want exactly, I want to create metadata called thematic axis category, and a so-called thematic axis that will be able to be filled in during submission in the metadata part itself, and the field category of the thematic axis will be a select , and the thematic axis field will also be a select, but its values will depend on the category field, it will be a conditional field. I didn’t think of doing anything in this format so I’m trying to adapt it somehow, that’s why the question is there a way to change the description of the discipline. Should I create a new post asking for just that? or can you help me with this one?
Hi @Lucas_Ernesto,
You might find that the Category toolset is a close match to what you need, I’m hoping. You can find it in Settings > Journal > Categories. See https://docs.pkp.sfu.ca/learning-ojs/en/journal-setup#categories for details.
