Better Password plugin for OJS 3.5.0.3

Hello,

I am currently testing an upgrade from OJS 3.4 to OJS 3.5 on a test server (snapshot from our production environment) and I am experiencing an unstable behaviour with the Better Password plugin.

The plugin appears as installed in the database, but it does not show up in the plugin list in the administration interface.

Environment:

  • Upgrading from: OJS 3.4

  • Upgrading to: OJS 3.5

  • OS platform Linux
    PHP version 8.2.30
    Apache version Apache
    Database driver mysql
    Database server version 10.5.29-MariaDB-0+deb11u1

Issue: After the upgrade, the Better Password plugin is registered in the database as installed, but it is not visible in the plugin gallery or the installed plugins list.

Has anyone experienced this issue during the 3.4 → 3.5 upgrade? Is this a known compatibility problem with OJS 3.5, and is there a workaround or fix available?

Any help would be greatly appreciated before we proceed with the production upgrade.

Thank you

Hi @joaoaires,

That’s a third party plugin, and it it doesn’t look as though the developers who’ve developed it have released a version compatible with 3.5 just yet: Releases · ulsdevteam/pkp-betterPassword · GitHub

If a plugin doesn’t show up in the plugin gallery, that is typically a good indication that it hasn’t been tested/approved for compatibility for a given version.
