Are file_dir contents modified by the process?

Hello. When upgrading. Are file_dir contents modified by the process? Or may I just restore the folder every time an upgade fails? (I’m upgrading from OJS2 to OJS 3.3.0-15)

I’m not 100% sure … but i think they are changed

Not in every upgrade, but in some of them (I’ll bet that they are certainly changed when jumping from any 2.x to a 3.x)

Yes, the organization of files_dir is substantially modified in the upgrade from 2.x to 3.x, and always could be modified in any upgrade. It is best practice to backup both the database and files_dir when upgrading, so as to be able to restore both.
