We are considering if we should start to use PKP Preservation Network for journals in our OJS installation.
We need to know, if author email adresses are sent as part of the metadata sent to/shared through PKP PN?
I can see that the author email adress are a part of the metadata in the native xml file OJS can create. So is it this file and therefore also the emails that is shared if we sign up for PKP PN?
We are worried if we comply with the GDPR rules, if we begin using PKP PN, so it is essential to know if emails are shared.
Best,
Alexandra
Hi @alexandraFO,
All the information you see on the output of the Native XML export is transferred to the PKP PN, but we’re not exposing all the information there. For example, non-public files are removed before we restore the content.
I’m not able to tell you if that goes against the GDPR rules. Of course, we can discuss (remembering that non-EU countries might have their own “GDPR” rules, e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Personal_Data_Protection_Law) and come up with changes.
p.s.: On OJS 3.6, the Native XML we’ll probably be replaced by the JATS format.
Best,
Jonas Raoni
