We have a large multi-journal instance of OJS using 3.3 right now, but are planning to upgrade to the next LTS when it is announced, and we would like to request a feature for 3.5 LTS. We would like it if journal editors and managers were able to edit the user self-registration form using the GUI on a journal by journal basis. We try to avoid changing anything in php files unless strictly necessary for a bug fix or similar to avoid having issues down the line with the code, and also to avoid making changes that affect all our journals. We have many journals associated with many institutions publishing with us, and each journal has its own things that it wants to have implemented that other journals may or may not want. However we do have some journals who are interested in being able to edit the self-registration form on their websites in order to add fields, remove fields, and change whether a field is a required field or not. We do not want to make these changes site-wide, nor mess with the code base ourselves, but think it would be a useful level of customization to have available to our journal managers.
We think that others in the community who are also running multi-journal instances may find this level of customization extremely helpful as well, allowing greater control over what information is collected for people registering as authors, reviewers, and even readers.
