Search function, assigning articles and open files

Hi, I have three questions.

  1. Can’t we search using ID in version 3? scrolling down and waiting for articles to download is taking too much time.
  2. New articles are assigned automatically to section editor. Why do they not stay in my unassigned page like before?
  3. Since the conversion, I cannot open manuscript files. I have to ask authors to send them via e-mail. What is the problem actually?

Thanks

Hi @sarifah

  1. This has already been implemented and is currently in the GitHub master branch, so it will be there in the next i.e. 3.1 release
  2. Is that section editor assigned to that section?
  3. What exactly is the problem, do you see any errors,… ?

Best,
Bozana

Hello Bozana,
Thanks for your reply.

  1. This has already been implemented and is currently in the GitHub master branch, so it will be there in the next i.e. 3.1 release.
So, for now I have to just scroll down and wait while articles download? Pardon me for my ignorance but I am a non technical person and understanding the system is hard for me. Just to write my questions yesterday was too much work for me because I could not immediately locate where to write new questions. Posting the questions was a challenge for me. Will users get the updates automatically.

  2. Is that section editor assigned to that section?
In the previous version, when there is a new manuscript, I will take a look at the contents and decides who should screen the paper. I assign the section editor. In the auto message to her I will write what I need her to do. But now, The manuscript does not stay in my unassigned folder. Iit straightaway enters the Active files and I see the section editor is already one of the participants.

  3. What exactly is the problem, do you see any errors,… ?
All we get is the message below. Since we shifted to the 3.0 version (15th May) we have to email authors for the files and send manuscript for review via email too.

Hi Sarifah,

  1. Yes. You could maybe search by other, available options…
  2. If you go to a section of such an article that is automatically assigned to the section editor: Settins > Journal > Sections > EDIT that section. Is that section editor in the list of Section Editors there?
  3. Hmmm… Have you search this forum for similar cases/answers and tried the solutions discussed there? Do you use the latest OJS version 3.0.2? Was the upgrade successful i.e. without any warnings or errors? Do those files exist in your files_dir and are the permission to the files_dir correct? Do you see any errors in your apache error log file?

Best,
Bozana

Dear Bozana,
I will discuss this further with the person in charge. We are under the Malaysian Citation Centre, Ministry of Higher Education.
Thanks.

Yours truly,

Sarifah
