Order of publishing issues i.e. current i OJS 3X

I realized that decision whether some issue is current or not is determined by its ID number. That is OK if we take for granted that we will always publish issues in chronological order. But, if we additionally publish some old issues which is often the case due to the fact that many journals publish on line their past issues, we will get situation that old issues are Current due to the fact that their ID is higher number than of issue that is more recent.
I think that decision whether issue will be current or not should be based on the date of original publishing that should be defined in the date of publishing and order of issues instead of ID number which does not reflect always the real situation. Thanks

Greetings @vvucic,

The issue can be set as current by changing its status in database.

I know that. But, that should not be the way how it should be done on a regular basis.

Hi all,

See this issue: No current issue when current issue is unpublished · Issue #2267 · pkp/pkp-lib · GitHub

Hello, Yes. maybe some flag or checkbox can make it right. Thanks

Has this changed? IE can one now publish old issues without these becoming the current issue?

thanks

Stephen

I did not have such problems in latest versions of OJS. Which version you use?
