My name is Chase, and I work at the Virginia Tech Libraries. Our development team has created a plugin for DOI registration and assignment through EZID, and I thought I’d share it with the community.
The plugin also has the capability to export metadata in the CrossRef format.
The system requirements are the same as those for OJS 2.4.5.

Have you considered creating a stand-alone repository for the plugin itself in github? If it’s useful, you can still include it in your OJS fork repo as a submodule. We’re starting to write a lot of our own plugins that way (see e.g. GitHub - pkp/pdfJsViewer: A pdf.js-based PDF viewer for OJS articles and issue galleys. for the PDF.js-based viewer) and it’ll play well into our future plans for a pluign gallery.
